Soulless are going missing in the city of Arcardia, and one such Soulless, Zuki, must discover the identity of the titular Soul Snatcher before they too disappear, or worse, succumb to Frallation.

Explore Psyches and Gain Allies

With the use of the Chimeric Camera, Zuki explores the minds of various individuals and helps them overcome their insecurities so they may find their true selves. These individuals join Zuki to aid in the investigation.

An Urban Fantasy Visual Novel

VantaPsy Soul Snatcher is an Urban Fantasy Visual Novel inspired by Persona, Final Fantasy, The World Ends With You, and Kingdom Hearts. It takes place in a contemporary/modern setting with Fantasy elements such as Magic and Beasts. While there is a science-fiction element, the Fantasy and slice-of-life drama takes centre stage.

Combat:


Partake in "Reaction" Based Combat where you and the enemy contest each other's actions. Collect pins through explorations and/or rewards based on your choices which benefit you in battle.

If you feel unequipped or just want to experience the story, you can choose "Story Mode" to completely skip combat encounters.

How Long?

VantaPsy Soul Snatcher was originally written to be a full Fantasy Novel. Expect ~11 hours of gripping story telling, reveals, twists, action, and drama.



Content Warning

  • Fantasy Violence: No gore or extreme violence. Occasional blood from a cut
  • Sensitive Topics:  Covers topics that may be sensitive to various people. These include but are not limited to: mentions of self harm, harassment, topics on identity and toxicity, mentions of abuse, death and other such topics.
  • Mild Language:  A few curse words here and there, but kept to a minimum.

Project is in Development

VantaPsy Soul Snatcher is currently in development, using RenPy. I am currently working alone. For some perspective, this is what has been completed:

  • The entire story is fully written, from beginning to end.
  • Concepts for character designs and locations.
  • Character portraits with expressions.
  • Script written for the first few chapters.
  • UI, menus etc mostly finished (subject to change).
  • A handful of musical tracks composed.
  • General Pre-Production stuff.
  • Combat script
  • Point and Click sections for first few chapters

What will take the most time?

  • Comic Panels (Severely).
  • All Backgrounds.
  • Music.
  • Combat Animations and enemy designs

DEMO v2

An hour long, short story that will give you an idea of the writing, combat, presentation, and themes that will be explored in the final version.

Nothing is final, as you can imagine, but hopefully it will give you an idea of VantaPsy Soul Snatcher is about.

This demo serves a proof of concept towards the final version of VantaPsy Soul Snatcher. While it includes characters and locations which will be present in the final version, this Demo is NOT cannon. Character relationships, dynamics, goals, and plot points have all been reworked to fit this Demo.
